Si has llegado hasta aquí leyendo, no me importa confesarte un secreto. Este defecto lo conozco de cerca, de tan cerca, que es uno de los más odiados y a la vez más comprendidos por esta que suscribe. Porque  la  ira es una pasión furiosa que con frecuencia hacer perder el juicio a quienes tienen el conocimiento. Y no es que me precie de tener conocimiento, sino que reconozco que la ira es una explosión incontenible de rabia que hace perder la razón. Y que, como todas las explosiones, causa daños a diestro y siniestro, muchos de los cuales son difícilmente reparables. Sí, si me preguntas, te diré que este podría ser mi gran pecado.

Me fue difícil encontrar una imagen que se correspondiera con la que tenía en mi cabeza. Era la imagen de un estallido de violencia incontrolada. Un grito simbólico, una descarga de presión que se produce con gran carga de agresividad y se refuerza de rencor y odio. Creo que encontré la imagen adecuada en la modelo seleccionada, y creo que inmediatamente me suscitó ese interés porque además de ese grito, contenía ya los colores con los que yo quería representarla, esto es: rojo, fundamentalmente, porque es el color asociado a la ira, pero que también, combinado con negro y con naranja, añaden agresividad a la escena.

Desde el principio me planteé «romper» la escena, tal y como si fuera el resultado de ese golpe de ira, una foto que se rasga por la mitad y congela la violencia del estallido. No en vano, toma nota, el desmembramiento era el castigo eterno asociado a este pecado capital. Para que resultara más creíble esa rotura, tracé su recorrido y encolé papel de seda convenientemente arrugado para darle la textura. El rasgado, al igual que el del papel que se rompe, es completamente blanco y con bordes irregulares. Creo que el resultado habla (o grita) por sí mismo. Y, por cierto, para aplacar la ira nada mejor que la paciencia, que es la que hay que tener para conseguir el efecto preciso.

If you have read this far, I do not mind telling you my secret. I am very familiar with this defect, so familiar that it is one of my most hated and at the same time most understood sins. Because Wrath is a furious passion that makes those who have knowledge lose their minds. And I am not assuming I have any knowledge but what I do acknowledge is that wrath is an overwhelming explosion of rage that makes me lose my mind more often than not. And like every other explosion it often causes non-repairable damage to all and sundry. Yes, now that you ask, I can tell you this might be my biggest sin.

I had trouble to find an image that suited what I had in mind for this representation, the image of a wild violence explosion. A symbolic scream, a pressure relief that takes place with a big deal of aggressivity, reinforced with grudge and hatred. I think I found the right image in the selected model and I believe it immediately captured my interest because of the colours I was already thinking of, this is mainly red, because red is the colour associated to wrath, but combined with black and orange which add aggressivity to the scene.

From the very beginning I thought about “breaking” the image, like if it was the aftermath of that blow of wrath, a picture torn in half that freezes the violence of the outbreak. Not for nothing is Dismemberment the eternal punishment associated to this deadly sin. In order to make the torture more credible I traced the edge and pasted some crumpled silk paper all along to give it the texture. The simulated torn paper is stark white and with irregular sides. I believe the result speaks (or shouts) of itself. And by the way, in order to appease anger nothing better than patience, the patience I needed to obtain the intended effect.
