Esta misteriosa mujer, que nos da la espalda, es una pintura basada en una fotografía del italiano Paolo Roversi. Reflexionando sobre lo que significa para mí esta obra, me viene a la cabeza una cita del pintor Edward Hopper, quien declaraba en una entrevista: «Me muestro a mí mismo en mis obras. No creo que nunca haya intentado pintar la escena americana. Sólo intento pintarme a mí mismo».
This mysterious woman with her back to us is a painting based on a picture by the Italian photographer Paolo Roversi. If I give some thought to the source of inspiration for this image, the words of the American artist Edward Hopper come to my mind. He said in an interview: ‘I declare myself in my paintings. I don’t think I ever tried to paint the American scene. I’m just trying to paint myself’.
