There are canvases with a linear life. One instant they are blank and the next moment they have reached their final destination. Some other canvases, like this one, go through different lives to reach their current status. Because things don’t always go right on the first attempt, and sometimes not even on the second one. But out of the blue threre is a moment of clear-sightness or inspiration and even when it might be dark around -like yesterday evening- there is a sudden image calling to you out of nowhere. And you outline the basic sketch to define the countenance that will come to life the day after. Sometimes it is not my will directing my hand but the brushes leading the way. It’s just a question of giving up the resistance and  go with the brush…

Hay lienzos que llevan una vida lineal. Un día están en blanco y al siguiente han llegado a su destino. Hay otros, como el que nos ocupa que ha pasado por tres vidas hasta llegar a la presente porque no, no siempre salen las cosas a la primera y, en ocasiones, tampoco a la segunda. Pero hay momentos de lucidez en el que ves las cosas claras, aunque esté oscuro como ayer noche, y dejas esbozada la imagen que verá la luz al día siguiente. Hay días en que no es la voluntad quien dirige la mano sino los propios pinceles y que no hay más que dejarse llevar…
